DRUCKER CENTER
MENOMONEE CLUB FOR BOYS AND GIRLS Chicago, Illinois PROJECT DESCRIPTION The conversion of a 30,000 sf warehouse space into recreation facilities for the oldest boys and girls club in the city of Chicago incorporated many activities from judo to ballet to basketball. The design of this project yielded a space that retained its industrial character but opened its doors to the community through user-friendly design, including color-coded walls, rubber mat flooring, a raised viewing platform above the basketball court and windows of varying heights between the gymnasium and the main circulation space. This design was the outcome of extensive and open communication between the Club's members, administration, and its advisory board. The Menomonee Club now has an adaptable space for a wide range of activities and interests, designed for longevity and durability.
